LDS: Do you think that your religion is one or all or nothing? Can you be a Mormon with reservations?
Do you think that you either are or you’re not? Sort of like you either are pregnant or you aren’t? There is no in between. I know that there exists other kinds of Christianity where one can go to church on Sunday and pretty well that’s it. Is that possible in the LDS?
The church is either true, or it’s not. The Book of Mormon is either true, or it’s not. Thomas S. Monson is either a prophet or he’s not. Christ either restored his church, or he didn’t. When it comes to being a member of the church I think some people are in the middle and they don’t know for sure or their testimonies aren’t as strong as they could be. The people you are describing are often times called Jack Mormons or inactive. They might have a testimony, but they don’t follow the commandments.
I think Christianity is the same way though, you’re not a very good Christian if you’re not keeping the commandments. They also have nicknames for those people "Easter and Christmas Christians" .
I think if someone believes, they need to keep the commandments or else they’ll be missing out on many blessings.

Satan will always tempt causing questions to arise but if you have a strong knowledge and the Holy Spirit, then its hard to be tempted out of the church. If people do have doubts then they usually become apostate, and some come back later.

I’m not clear whether you are talking about believing or practising. But actually, I would think it’s pretty difficult to be a "Sunday only" Mormon.
Many Mormons pick and choose certain beliefs, but those are usually over minor issues. For example, I’m a bit unconvinced about the Heavenly Mother thing, but since it’s not really major doctrine, or even taught at Church, it’s never been an issue. I also choose to drink coke. I know many don’t. And I’m not as strict on sabbath observance as some. Again, not a major issue. However, were I to choose to agree with a lot of the Church’s major doctrines but not, for example, living prophets or the Word of Wisdom, I would come unstuck in that I would not be eligible for a Temple Recommend. And that matters to me.
As to practices, not really. You do have to live it. Excluding Sunday, we are supposed to have daily family prayer and scripture study, weekly family home evening, do home and visiting teaching, go to youth events, firesides, seminary, Enrichment, Ward Council and do our callings. It would be quite tough to be a "Sunday only" Mormon and have to admit that you were doing none of those things during the week. And if, for example, you weren’t keeping the Word of Wisdom or, worse, the Law of Chastity, your Bishop would want to speak to you.
So yes, as Jesus said, you’re either for him or against him. I’m for him.

My friend
In ALL religions and faiths there is but ONE God.
Most are based on belief in this One God, for how ever they see Him.
( The only question an individual should ask themselves is :
Do I see Him as He wants to Be Seen ? ) Not as I am being taught to see Him.
Something for us all to THINK about.
I am not LDS.

Christ described these people in the Parable of the 10 virgins. Five had oil and 5 did not. Adapting it to your question. Five Mormons lived their religion and five did not. When Christ was about ready yo open the chamber to them (a custom. A marriage was held at midnight.) the ones that did not asked to borrow from there extra container. How can you borrow spirituality and good works, faith and discipleship, spiritual skills and love of the gospel principles? You cannot just like lifting weights will not sculpt you body if done once. The virgins said, not so, but go to those that sell and buy, or go earn it in the only way you can, drop by drop. While they were doing so the Bridegroom came and let the five wise virgins in and shut the door to the chamber. They were prepared and ready, the others were not.

I’m not LDS but, I would wager to guess that just as there are "Cafeteria Catholics" there must be "My Menu Mormons" Of course doctrinally they both deserve to be called out by their respective counterparts that are true to their church’s teaching.
Hope you’re feeling well…. Pax Christi

What do you think the Church is for? If everyone was "PREGNANT", there’d be no need for a CHURCH. Not everything that has come out of the mouths of the prophets AT GENERAL CONFERENCE turned out to be TRUE.
Blood Atonement Doctrine was repudiated, Less Valiant theory was repudiated. Christ being a polygamist isn’t taught anymore. Blacks being the Mark of Cain has been repudiated. I could go on. On each and every point SOME Mormons NEVER bought the BS to begin with.
Are eight year old children newly baptized a "little pregnant", or full BLOWN PREGGERS?
